Big Data Solutions from IBM and Fujifilm

Researchers at IBM, working with FujiFilm, have recently achieved a major breakthrough in data tape technology, ensuring that Magnetic Tape solutions will lead the world in robust, reliable and cost effective Big Data management systems.

FujiFilm's high density Barium Ferrite (BaFe) tape coating, along with other technical developments, has increased data capacity of a single tape to 154 terabytes - 62 times more data than LTO6!

With developments in data hardware and supporting software products – such as LTFS - it is clear that magnetic data tape technology will lead the market for handling, storing and archiving Big Data now, and into the future.
