Evolution to Revolution...the future of tape technology
Posted by Sales on

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF TAPE TECHNOLOGY FOR DATA STORAGE AND MANAGEMENT? There is news in the field of tape storage: two new products will be launched in 2018 which will change tape technology’s offer in the field of data storage. Planned for summer of next year is what we can call the IBM revolution; the new 3592JE drive with a 20TB capacity data tape and with 500MB/s transfer rate. Prior to this, the start of the year will see the launch of the new LTO8 with a capacity of 12TB and close to 350MB/s transfer rate (information to be...
LTO7 Data Tape is easily accessed with LTFS software

We have detailed in our previous news article, innovations in tape media storage. A key breakthrough in this technological field is HP StoreOpen software and LTFS (Linear Tape File System), and the introduction of Fuji LTO7 tapes and other high technology brands. This incredible software now makes LTO tape media file-based and self-describing, meaning a data tape can now be accessed and managed as easily as a hard disk or flash memory drive. The result of this is a high capacity, robust data management system which is easy to access and control. Long term back-up and archive data becomes easy...

LTFS (Linear Tape File System) has made a a huge contribution to the use of LTO Ultrium tape in the data storage industry. As storage capacity and data transfer speeds have increased, LTFS has enabled new uses of LTO Ultrium tape to manage and archive file content. The recent introduction of HPE LTO7 tape, with 15TB storage capacity and 750mb/sec transfer rates, makes LTFS even more useful in the management of files. LTFS allows an LTO tape to appear as a storage device, with a straight forward graphical interface. Users can drag and drop files, in the same way as...
WHY ORGANISATIONS NEED LTO 7 TECHNOLOGY TODAY

Fuji LTO 7 Ultrium Data Tape with 15TB of data storage capacity per tape is now available. With speeds of up to 750MB/second, the transfer rates on LTO 7 are impressively fast - more than double that of previous generations of LTO tapes. Fuji LTO 7 tape media features Fujifilm’s proprietary Barium Ferrite (BaFe) tape coating technology, developed specifically for long-term archival storage. BaFe tape coating also enables massive enterprise-class storage capacities of up to 15TB per tape. This equates to 2.4 times the capacity of LTO 6 and 4 times the capacity of LTO-5. LTO 7 Ultrium technology also...
